Enter your Pósturinn or international tracking number
When any of your packages, including Pósturinn, is out for delivery, you’ll see it in the Dynamic Island, on your home screen widget and in your notifications. Your package keeps you posted before you even ask.

Incoming and outgoing, separated
Packages you receive and packages you send sit in separate tabs, filtered by status.
Pósturinn, known in English as Iceland Post, handles mail and parcels in Iceland. Recipients can collect from post offices or Póstbox parcel lockers. Parcels bought online from abroad can go to a locker too, but Pósturinn says you must register for that and give a means of paying customs fees first.
Customs is often the step that slows things down. Parcels from abroad can wait for an invoice, and Pósturinn says clearance is quicker when the sender puts the invoice on the outside of the shipment. If that information is missing, the parcel is held and you’re notified by letter or email. Import fee and invoice steps appear as their own events in the tracking.
Kargo Radar reads the service behind Pósturinn’s tracking page and asks for English. It also answers for foreign postal numbers on their way to Iceland. Scans made by the sending country’s post can be an hour or two off, because they may carry local time labelled as UTC. Kargo Radar is an independent app and isn’t affiliated with Pósturinn.
You’ll find the tracking number on the label, the shipping receipt or the shipping details the sender gave you. The examples below only show the format.

A number from another country’s post, ending in that country’s code. It works here when the parcel is heading to Iceland.
Pósturinn says the number is most often 13 characters long and is usually in the seller’s shipping email. On a notice of an international shipment, it’s at the top right, under the barcode.
Kargo Radar’s automatic check treats a number ending in IS as an international post item, not as Pósturinn specifically. Use this page, which has Pósturinn selected, to go straight to Iceland Post’s data.
See where your package is in a few steps, and hear about it when the status changes.
Paste your tracking number into the form on this page. The form already has Pósturinn selected and takes you straight to the results.
Pósturinn numbers look like other carriers’ numbers, so Kargo Radar doesn’t guess. Choose Pósturinn from the carrier list in the app or on the tracking page.
Each scan is listed on a timeline with its date (and time, when the carrier provides one), and the overall status is summarized as one of six standard statuses.
Save the package to your list in the Kargo Radar app and you’ll get a notification on your phone when its status changes. Packages from other carriers sit in the same list.
Kargo Radar turns each carrier’s own status wording into six standard statuses, so packages from different carriers read the same way. Each event keeps the carrier’s own description in the history, or an English rendering for carriers that only report in their local language.
These appear in English in Pósturinn’s tracking:
Contact Pósturinn about customs clearance, fees and pickup in Iceland. For a parcel that hasn’t shown up, talk to the seller or the sending post first, because Pósturinn says a number missing from its system means the parcel hasn’t reached Iceland. It also says it can’t answer questions about parcels in customs abroad; those go to the customs authority in the country of origin.
Kargo Radar can’t pay fees, submit an invoice or book a delivery. Those steps happen with Pósturinn directly, through its request forms or app.
Answers to common questions about Pósturinn packages.
Paste your number into the form above. Kargo Radar shows Pósturinn’s events in English with the overall status on top. Save the parcel in the app if you’d like a notification when something changes.
It’s usually in the seller’s shipping confirmation email. If you received a notice about an international shipment, look at the top right under the barcode. Most numbers have 13 characters.
Your search asks Pósturinn’s service directly, so you see what it currently holds. Anything not yet scanned won’t be there, and a parcel can sit between two steps without showing an update.
Pósturinn says that a number that doesn’t appear in its system usually means the shipment hasn’t arrived in Iceland yet. Give it more time, and in the meantime track it with the sending country’s post.
Pósturinn asks you to submit the tracking number with an invoice, receipt or the sender’s confirmation of value through its customs clearance request form. Clearing the parcel then lets it move on to delivery.
Pósturinn says you get an SMS, email or app notification with a QR code and PIN, and then have 3 days to collect. Post offices are different, with collection recommended within 10 business days, after which storage fees apply.
Some scans come from the sending country’s post. Those can show that country’s local time, labelled as UTC, so an event may look an hour or two out of place. The order of the steps is what matters.
