About Pakistan Post

Pakistan Post is the country’s state postal service. It says it runs 13,419 post offices and became an independent attached department of the Ministry of Communications in 1962. Its tracking site is EMTTS, the Express Mail Track & Trace System.

Its express services include Urgent Mail Service (UMS), Express Mail Service (EMS), a COD service and same-day delivery. Pakistan Post also warns customers about fraud. It says duties and taxes are collected through its own manual system, and that no online system or call centre collects money from customers.

Kargo Radar reads the public EMTTS page. Events are in English and use international postal wording, such as “Receive item at office of exchange”. For items sent abroad, EMTTS also shows events from the destination country. Times on that page are local to wherever the scan happened, and Kargo Radar converts them so the history stays in order.

Kargo Radar is independent. It isn’t affiliated with Pakistan Post or the Government of Pakistan.

What do Pakistan Post tracking numbers look like?

You’ll find the tracking number on the label, the shipping receipt or the shipping details the sender gave you. The examples below only show the format.

International item from Pakistan

Example format

AB123456789PK

Two letters, 9 digits and PK. On the Kargo Radar home page, these are recognized as international post and read from Pakistan Post.

Foreign item coming to Pakistan

Example format

AB123456789SA

The last two letters show the country of origin. Choose Pakistan Post on this page to see the Pakistani side of the journey.

Domestic article

Example format

RGL12345678

Three letters such as RGL, PAR, UMS or VPL, followed by 8 digits. These aren’t recognized automatically, so Pakistan Post must be selected.

Use the tracking ID on your receipt, and enter it without spaces.

Is the carrier detected automatically?

International numbers ending in PK are recognized from their format. Domestic numbers and foreign items aren’t, but this page’s form already has Pakistan Post selected.

How to track Pakistan Post packages with Kargo Radar

See where your package is in a few steps, and hear about it when the status changes.

  1. 01

    Enter the number

Paste your tracking number into the form on this page. The form already has Pakistan Post selected and takes you straight to the results.

  2. 02

    Pick the carrier if needed

Some Pakistan Post numbers are recognized from their format. For the rest, choose Pakistan Post from the carrier list in the app or on the tracking page.

  3. 03

    Follow every event

Each scan is listed on a timeline with its date (and time, when the carrier provides one), and the overall status is summarized as one of six standard statuses.

  4. 04

    Get notified

Save the package to your list in the Kargo Radar app and you’ll get a notification on your phone when its status changes. Packages from other carriers sit in the same list.

What do the tracking statuses mean?

Kargo Radar turns each carrier’s own status wording into six standard statuses, so packages from different carriers read the same way. Each event keeps the carrier’s own description in the history, or an English rendering for carriers that only report in their local language.

Shipped
The carrier has registered the shipment or picked it up from the sender. It may not have left yet.
In transit
The package is moving between facilities, countries or customs.
Out for delivery
The package is out for delivery, or it’s waiting to be collected at a branch, post office or pickup point.
Delivered
The package was handed to the recipient or collected from the pickup point.
Delivery failed
A delivery was attempted but not completed. The carrier’s next step shows up in the event history.
Returned
The package is on its way back to the sender, or it has already been returned.

Good to know about Pakistan Post statuses

Pakistan Post uses standard postal wording. “Origin country” and “destination country” refer to where the item was sent from and where it’s going.

Receive item at office of exchange
The item reached the international mail office that handles border crossings, in the origin or destination country.
Send item to customs in destination country
The item has been handed over for customs checks. It can stay here for a while.
Return item from customs in destination country
Customs has passed the item back to the post. This doesn’t mean it’s going back to the sender.
Hold item at office of exchange
The item is being held at the exchange office. Kargo Radar still counts this as in transit.
Insert item into domestic bag
The item was put into a mailbag for the next post office.
Receive item at collection point for pick-up
The item is waiting at a pickup point. You may need to collect it, so don’t wait for a courier.
Unsuccessful item delivery attempt
Delivery was tried and failed. Check with the local delivery office or the local postal service.

Pakistan Post customer support

For inquiries and complaints, Pakistan Post lists a helpline at 051-111-111-117 and a complaints page. Customer care centres for each region are listed on its site, including the international mail offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Keep your tracking ID and booking receipt with you. If the item is abroad, the destination country’s postal service usually handles the last part.

Be careful if someone sends you a link or phones you asking for customs fees to release a parcel. Pakistan Post says it never asks for online payment through its website and that its official sites are ep.gov.pk and pakpost.gov.pk. Kargo Radar doesn’t collect customs fees and can’t release an item from customs.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Pakistan Post packages.

How do I track a Pakistan Post article?

Enter the tracking ID from your receipt in the form here. Pakistan Post is selected for you, and that works for domestic articles and for international items.

Where do I find my Pakistan Post tracking ID?

It’s on the receipt from the post office where the article was booked. If someone abroad sent it to you, ask them for the number on their postage receipt or look in the shop’s dispatch email.

Is Pakistan Post tracking updated live here?

We fetch the EMTTS record whenever you search, so the result reflects what Pakistan Post holds right now. Post offices don’t scan every step promptly, and a parcel can reach you before the page catches up.

What if my tracking ID isn’t found?

EMTTS reports “Route Not Found” for IDs it doesn’t hold. Check the letters at both ends of the number. If the item is foreign and hasn’t reached Pakistan, the record may not appear yet, so try tracking it with the postal service of the sending country.

Someone wants customs fees online for my parcel. Is this real?

Be very careful. Pakistan Post says it collects duties and taxes through its own manual system, and it has no online system or call centre for this. Don’t pay through a link or over the phone. Call its helpline to check.

Does “Return item from customs” mean it’s going back?

No. It’s a standard postal event that means customs has given the item back to the post so it can move on. A real return usually reads as a return to sender.

Why do I see events from another country?

Items posted abroad pass between two postal services. EMTTS can show scans from the destination country, including a failed delivery attempt there. For those, the local postal service in that country is the one to contact.
