Austrian Post (Österreichische Post) is Austria’s national postal operator. It delivers letters and parcels across Austria and passes international mail on to the postal operator in the destination country.
Austrian Post says more than 97% of domestic parcels are delivered within two business days. For items sent abroad, Austrian Post says that after the status “item forwarded to country of destination,” the next update comes from the carrier in that country. Since 2020, Austrian Post has also owned 80% of the Turkish carrier Aras Kargo, though mail from Austria to Türkiye is usually delivered by PTT.
Kargo Radar shows the events in the Austrian Post record with their English descriptions, along with a simple status summary.
You’ll find the tracking number on the label, the shipping receipt or the shipping details the sender gave you. The examples below only show the format.

A 22-digit number made up of digits only. Parcels sent abroad can also have a second number ending in AT.
International numbers ending in AT are recognized in the app as “International Post” and looked up with Austrian Post. 22-digit parcel numbers look like other carriers’ long numbers, so they aren’t detected automatically; choose Austrian Post for those.

Paste your tracking number into the form on this page. The form already has Austrian Post selected and takes you straight to the results.
Some Austrian Post numbers are recognized from their format. For the rest, choose Austrian Post from the carrier list in the app or on the tracking page.
Each scan is listed on a timeline with its date (and time, when the carrier provides one), and the overall status is summarized as one of six standard statuses.
Save the package to your list in the Kargo Radar app and you’ll get a notification on your phone when its status changes. Packages from other carriers sit in the same list.
Kargo Radar turns each carrier’s own status wording into six standard statuses, so packages from different carriers read the same way. Each event keeps the carrier’s own description in the history, or an English rendering for carriers that only report in their local language.
Common Austrian Post event descriptions and what they mean:
Only the sender can start an Austrian Post item inquiry, because the sender holds the contract. If you’re expecting a parcel, ask them to do it. For a parcel coming from abroad, it starts with the sender or through the post or carrier in the country of posting.
Damage works differently. Report it within 7 days of delivery, Sundays and holidays excluded, online or at a postal branch. Keep the item and its packaging, and tell the sender. For items from abroad, only the recipient in Austria can report it. Kargo Radar shows Austrian Post’s events and can’t lodge either report.
Answers to common questions about Austrian Post packages.
Paste your tracking number into the form on this page. Kargo Radar looks it up in Austrian Post’s tracking system and lists every event.
Long digit-only numbers are used by other carriers too, so Kargo Radar doesn’t guess the carrier for them. Choose Austrian Post and you’re set.
It’s the country code of the postal operator that issued the number, in this case Austrian Post. Numbers in this format (two letters, nine digits and a country code) follow the UPU S10 standard that postal services use worldwide.
Unless you’ve set up a free receiving option in your Austrian Post account, the courier leaves a notice in your mailbox saying where to pick up the parcel. The pickup period starts the next day and runs until the third following Monday, unless an online retailer set a shorter period of 5 business days; the courier writes the last pickup day on the notice. Items left at an Austrian Post station can be picked up 24/7 with the notification code.
Austrian Post says items containing goods from non-EU countries must be registered with Austrian customs before delivery, and the inspection can take a few days. Austrian Post pays the import turnover tax and any customs duties on the recipient’s behalf, then collects them, plus a fee for this service, at delivery or at the service location. If documents are missing, Austrian Post’s own tracking on post.at shows a customs impediment and lets you upload them.
