OnTrac is a US carrier that focuses on last-mile delivery of online orders. LaserShip, which started in 1986 as Laser Courier, merged with OnTrac in 2021, and since 2023 the two have been marketed under the single name OnTrac. That’s why a LaserShip number and an OnTrac number can both end up on this page.
OnTrac says it works with independent contractors through a hub-and-spoke network. It says its reach is about 68% of the US population across 31 states and DC. Only some service areas get weekend deliveries, according to its FAQ. Retailers usually pick the carrier, so you may never have chosen OnTrac and may have no account with it, which is normal.
Kargo Radar reads the tracking service behind OnTrac’s website. Events are in English and include the city and state of each scan, with times given in the local time zone of the facility. If you search by a retailer’s reference, the result shows OnTrac’s own number instead. Kargo Radar has no affiliation with OnTrac or LaserShip, and works independently of them.
You’ll find the tracking number on the label, the shipping receipt or the shipping details the sender gave you. The examples below only show the format.
Example format
C12345678901234
C or D, then 14 digits. Recognized automatically when the last digit passes OnTrac’s check.
Example format
1LS123456789012
The long LaserShip style, starting with 1LS. Recognized automatically.
Example format
LX12345678
A short LaserShip style. Other carriers use similar numbers, so it isn’t recognized automatically.
OnTrac says its numbers begin with C, D, 1LS, LS, LX or BN. If yours starts with LS or BN, keep OnTrac selected here.
C, D and 1LS numbers are recognized automatically. Short LS, LX and BN numbers aren’t, so use the form here, which has OnTrac selected already.
See where your package is in a few steps, and hear about it when the status changes.
Paste your tracking number into the form on this page. The form already has OnTrac selected and takes you straight to the results.
Some OnTrac numbers are recognized from their format. For the rest, choose OnTrac from the carrier list in the app or on the tracking page.
Each scan is listed on a timeline with its date (and time, when the carrier provides one), and the overall status is summarized as one of six standard statuses.
Save the package to your list in the Kargo Radar app and you’ll get a notification on your phone when its status changes. Packages from other carriers sit in the same list.
Kargo Radar turns each carrier’s own status wording into six standard statuses, so packages from different carriers read the same way. Each event keeps the carrier’s own description in the history, or an English rendering for carriers that only report in their local language.
Common OnTrac event names and how to read them:
Recipients start with OnTrac’s virtual assistant, Wink, or the inquiry form on its tracking page. That’s where to report “Tracking shows delivered; no package” or add delivery instructions. You’ll need a valid tracking number. OnTrac asks for up to 48 hours to investigate and sends updates by email, so watch your inbox.
Go to your retailer if you have no tracking number, or if an inquiry has shown no updates for 2 business days. OnTrac points you there for next steps, and the retailer is the one who can replace or refund the order. Kargo Radar can’t file an inquiry, change an address or contact a driver for you.
Answers to common questions about OnTrac packages.
Enter your number above. C, D and 1LS numbers go straight through, and a short LX, LS or BN number works too because this page has OnTrac selected. No sign-in is required.
Check the shipping email or the order page from the retailer. OnTrac’s own advice is to ask your retailer, because that’s who holds the number. It starts with C, D, 1LS, LS, LX or BN.
It’s as current as OnTrac’s own record. Your lookup triggers a fresh request, and you see whatever OnTrac holds at that moment. A truck can have moved on since its last scan, which the history won’t show until the next one.
OnTrac says the sender may not have sent the package data yet, or the number may be invalid, and that some shippers take up to 24 hours to add tracking after an order ships. Wait a day and try again, then check the number with the retailer.
Look around your property and ask anyone who may have taken it in. Then open an inquiry through Wink or the form on OnTrac’s tracking page, choosing “Tracking shows delivered; no package”, which starts an investigation. If nothing changes after 2 business days, contact your retailer.
OnTrac says it reattempts within 1 to 2 business days and doesn’t offer same-day reattempts. You can add delivery instructions through Wink, though they may not apply until the next attempt.
Yes. LaserShip and OnTrac combined, and they now share one name. A number that begins with 1LS or LX is still valid to look up, so you can use this page whichever name the retailer printed.
OnTrac’s NotifyMe program sends texts when a package is out for delivery, attempted or delivered. You sign up on its tracking page. If you prefer app alerts, save the package in the Kargo Radar app and it will notify you of status changes.
